Outlines is a new city centre festival created by the same people who run Tramlines. With  a genre-spanning mix of established names and breaking talent, as artists take to the stage at venues including The Harley, Queens Social Club, Plug, o2 Academy and Skate Central’s roller rink, where the shows come complete with skates. 2016’s lineup will feature UK hip-hop pioneer Roots Manuva, post-punk icons Gang of Four, electronic pop upstart Shura and BBC Sound of 2016 longlister Loyle Carner.

All Ears is an organisation which raises awareness of tinnitus and hearing loss which can be contracted through over exposure to loud music. It works with many venues, promoters and health organisations to promote the use of hearing protection and reduce the stigma people feel about using earplugs in loud environments such as gigs, club nights or festivals.

Tinnitus is a condition which causes the sufferer to hear a noise in their ears which does not come from an external source. The noise often resembles ringing or whooshing and can be temporary or permanent. It can be caused by over exposure to loud sound such as at a night club or festival. There is currently no cure for the condition, which means that people who are permanently affected by it are unable to hear silence.

During Outlines All Ears will be present at Plug and Skate Central with free earplugs and information about tinnitus and hearing loss and all festival venues will have free earplugs behind the bar.

Justin Pryce director of All Ears said “We’re really glad to have partnered with Outlines, festivals of any size can be damaging to your hearing so it’s great to see that the organisers have recognised this and put in place precautions so people can protect their ears!”
